***Patience***

"Robert Louis Stevenson wrote: 'you can not run away from weakness; you must fight it out... or perish. And if that be so, why not now, and where you stand?'"

They say "Patience is a virtue" true but not in my case. I miss my baby girl, my sweet princess. I have not seen or touched her in 3 days. Those who are avid readers of my postings would probably be wondering why. Let me tell you...I was admitted into SJMC last Tuesday 12th June 2007.Have been having tummy ache since Sunday and when I woke up on Tuesday morning the pain was so unbearable. It was torturous to even walk let alone to carry my Daanya. Hazmy took me to see my obgyn cause we were worried that the cyst she found since my 5th month pregnancy might have burst. After a mutual agreement (I just wanted to rest at home..well that is just me being really stubborn) we decided to call Dr. Siti's clinic to check whether it is ok for us to come in...and when it was confirmed that it is ok, we thought it would be better to go. So we left Daanya with her Tok Sha in Subang and had packed for her just in case she had to stay overnight which in the end she did...but I was relieved that she was in good hands.Anyway, the cyst grew double its size to about 70mm and immediately Dr. Siti said to operate and be admitted under emergency operation. By this time I was in total pain and didn't hesitate much.

I was taken into the operation theater at exactly 8:30pm. It was nerve-wrecking. All horror stories about operations that I've heard all these while kept on playing repetitively in my mind.I was scared. Kept trying to remember all the faces of people I loved as they pushed me into the main theater.Tried to remember their smiles and laughs. Especially the face of my baby. Regretted not kissing her before we left her at Tok Sha's. I have not kissed her since Sunday because I was feeling under the weather and did not want her to catch my virus. But somehow at that point, my only thought was what if this was the end of the line for me and I did not even kiss her. Cried all the way to the theater.Regretted that my mom was not there to see me(she had work outside KL) but appreciated that my dad and brother was there.Hazmy was my pillar. But without Daanya, I felt so incomplete. I really wanted to see her and her daddy both seeing me off. Alhamdulillah the surgery went well...they found that the cyst was not only residing in my right ovary but also there was a small one on my left and on top of that my appendix was so red and almost infected and took that off as well. After 3 hours they tried to wake me up by tapping on my shoulder. Couldn't open my eyes and all I could do was nod or otherwise. I was in absolute pain. Could feel the cut on my tummy and felt like the whole of my insides were ripped into pieces. Once I reached the room and I heard Hazmy's voice, I was a happy camper. but he could not stay as we got a double bedder instead of a single room we requested. And still until now, I am still stuck in this shared room. It was such a relieve to hear his voice although I cannot at all open my eyes. I didn't know what happened next but I did remind Hazmy to sleep with Daanya at Tok Papa and Tok Sha's which he did not and that made me a little bit upset as I always want her to know that if one cannot be with her the other one will and that never will both of us abandon her. This way she will never feel alone even when she's all grown up. The feeling that her parents will always be there for her.

3 days post-op and I am still here in SJMC while my baby daughter is being passed around. So kesian. Right now she is at Opah's (Hazmy's mom's).Oh how I miss her so much!!!I am no more patient. I cannot wait to see her again...and this time I want to kiss her so badly....Mommy misses you baby Daanya that mommy's heart aches every time at the thought of you. It is terrible at night especially when mommy is alone here in the hospital knowing that you are not in my arms where I would cuddle you to sleep. Mommy hates it when I cannot feed you and make sure you get enough milk and see you laugh and smile. Oh, I just hate being apart from you. *Tearing*.................................................................

I believe in Allah and I am sure all these has its silver lining. Mommy will have to get better so that mommy can be a stronger and healthier mother for you.God wants me to be whole and 100% perfect for you and in that I will strive to gain back my health. Looks like it is gonna be back to square one for me...another confinement. This time probably a more painful one because of the cut and wound. *Sigh* But as long as Daanya and Hazmy is with me I feel whole. I will be heading back to my parents' for recovery. Only mama will know best how to take care of me and again she will be sacrificing her leaves to do just that.Alhamdulillah...tak terbalas jasa mama!!!

***Before & After ***

Just a quick update....

I found this photo yesterday on Daanya's Uncle Joe's phone and seriously could
not recognize an who this baby was....am I a bad mother???? :( I was totally dumbfounded as really could not believe that the baby in the picture was my Daanya....She was so tiny...this picture goes back to the days when she was spitting and vomiting. Basically this post is just to prove that she did not gain that much weight since birth till her first month check up....She weighed 3.2kg at birth exactly 7 pounds...Sadly on her first month check up she only weighed 3.7kg which only took a 500grams hike....All this because she was not retaining food including breast milk...

Now, at 2 months...she weighs at a whooping 5.6kg...a vast growth and also development. She is really catching up...I may have to get new clothes for her as her current ones are almost tight fitting on her....hehhehehe...We are so glad that now she is retaining her milk. And demands 2 refill packs of formula a week.hehheheh kesian daddy...but as her Tok Papa said..."Anak nak makan takkan nak sekat" hahhahah true that!!!

But, whatever the size, big or small...Mommy loves you to pieces princess with all my heart and soul!!!(But still, it would be a bonus to pinch your chubby cheeks, and mommy has an obsession with chubby babies!!!Am on a mission!!!)*grins*

***The Meaning of Daanya Ayeesha***

"IDA Scott Taylor wrote: 'Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.'"

Wow!!!This tag really got me rekindling the amount of time we took to explore our options and decide on a very suitable name for our baby...As I recall...we started thinking of names for our baby as soon as we know for sure that we were pregnant...I think that was when I was in my 5th week of pregnancy. So many names, so many options...which to choose?I wanted the name to be perfect...At first, if it was a boy, then Hazmy's second name Hazeman would definitely be the choice for the baby's second name...a name that he too would pass down to his boys.hehehhehe berangan!!!Then we thought if it was a girl then what??? Hazmy said to maintain my 2nd name if it was a girl...I thought that would be cool since it is a classic name and we hardly have that anymore now...So there we go thinking and reading and surfing for the perfect Muslim name four our baby. Consequently, from the search, we derive about 3 choices for a baby boy ...they were such nice names...somehow we could not come up with a perfect girl's name...which I thought was really funny because there are so many girl names to choose from but nothing appealed to us and moreover nothing we found suitable to my 2nd name...then out of nowhere I was thinking to myself that maybe this is a sign that I might be getting a boy...hhahahahahahahahha mental!!!!After months and months of searching and waiting should a girl's name come to us which it did not...so we just left it hanging and settled for the boy's name. At 6 months of pregnancy, we found out it was going to be a girl...I panicked literally!!!Exaggerating you say???Well, I really wanted to start talking to my baby while in the tummy therefore it would only be right that I call it by its name right???but mommy and daddy have not yet found a name for our baby girl.....so again we played with names and search and finally gave up...nothing was going to go with MEELA!!!!!!except Luffini! hahahahahahahahahahaha. Then I figured, it does not have to have my name but my baby can also have a classic 2nd name just like her mommy. Now that was an idea to toy with, Hazmy and I thought....I thought it was a good idea...after going through many many resources...my baby's aunty lulul(nurul) said that there is this Welsh name that she likes Dania (Aunty Lulul is half welsh and here is a picture of Aunty Lulul and Daanya) and I instantly loved it....but I thought it has to have a good meaning in Islam so I went through our abundant amount of books on muslim baby names and found the likes of Daniyah, Daniya, Dania which have different meanings but ones that I particularly am not fond of....(fussy right???)So, we decided to go online and to God's will we found Daanya.Yahoooooo!!!!! From then on we started calling the baby in my tummy Daanya....It's perfect!!!Has a modern feel to it....unique in its own right!

For her second name which we decided that it would be classic. The first name that I thought of was Aisha...but I didn't want it to be so direct and so to the point(just go with me here!!!)and then we thought since Meela has a classic Indian ring to it(hey, I am proud of the name!)we found Ayeesha, which also has an Indian-Bollywood flavor...hahhahaha and best of all it is a Muslim name....Perfect yet again!!!Mind me...they have sweet names there in Bollywood....but it is kind of contradicting lar since both of us have Chinese ancestry. But who cares....So there you go.....our angel's name from that point on was going to be Daanya Ayeesha....though I get annoyed when people pronounce it as Daanya Aishah...hahahhahahaha...

The meaning you ask????Well here goes...I have made the search then at several Muslim websites for baby names...See whether I can link it here.

***Daanya*** - Gift of God, Beautiful (This site was a big help!!!)
***Ayeesha*** - Life,Vivaciousness, Living Prosperous and also Youngest wife of
Prophet Muhammad(S.A
.W). Derived from Aaeesha.

There is also this other website that holds the meaning of Ayeesha in Indian as I mentioned. It states that Ayeesha comes from the Indian word which means, "Unknown."and it also has a numerological meaning that says:

"people with this name tend to be natural leaders, self-sufficient, and ambitious. They generally want to make their own decisions in life and are not afraid to take charge or manage a situation. It is important for them to avoid extremes of bossiness or shyness. They tend to be too impulsive. Professionally, they can be successful in political leadership, celebrity status, or as a small business owner."

Kinda like me!!!!minus the business owner part...huhu!

One more thing, the spelling mattered too!!!hahahhaha you all must think I am CRAYZEH!!!! My name is spelled Luffini Meela...therefore I thought it would be cool for Daanya to have that repetition in letters in her name too, hence Daanya Ayeesha...get it????hahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahaha....

Oh just a note....My dad did come up with variations to baby Daanya's name and asked me to consider...like Rania (queen rania????) and zania(like zany???) hahhaha no way!!!though I do think Queen Rania is beautiful!!!

You are right babyboon...so exhausting!!!Just t
o get and find the perfect name!!!Imagine what our parents went through for ours....but in the end, I am proud of the name we chose for her...hopefully the next one would be a brother to her...cause we have pre-chosen baby boy names in stock to pick from. Maybe 6,7 years down the line for the next one....ye ker????*angelic smile*
Ok....let me put things straight here...most of the people I know are not yet preggie and some are waiting to burst hehehhehe...so I am only going to tag one person that I know of whose due date is almost up....so rynn, do it when you already got a name for the little bump ok....

***5.6kg***

"What A frightening thing is the human, a mass of gages, and dials, and registers, but we can read only a few and those perhaps not accurately." -- John Steinbeck

We took Daanya for her 2-month jab yesterday...I was all excited!!Hhahahahah....I never get excited about going to the clinic before this but this time I was excited only because we want Daanya to improve in term of weight because she was not doing so well since birth to her first month due to her vomiting and spitting. But all is well....our little angel is now consuming better and spitting out less...and vomits only when she is too full...Praise to Allah, at her check-up yesterday she now weighs 5.6kg...yahooooo!!!!I wanted to jump ecstatically immediately right there at the doctor's office....honestly!!!! The doctor used to tell us that if her weight does not increase then we might have to resort to other alternatives to make her retain food....and I was a nervous wreck since then. Now, I feel so much better...the paed told me that ideally infants are supposed to gain an increment of 100 grams a week...a total of 400g a month...She was weighing at 3.7kg during her first month check-up and this 5.6kg is really a hike of more than 400grams and wooshhhh I felt a pang of relief instantaneously....wow!!!I know I know some of you are probably wondering if I am obsessed with obese and chubby babies....hahhahah YES I AM!!!!!hehhehehe. I think they are cuter the chubbier they get!!!I know...mental kan????hahhahahah.

Anyways, the doctor said she is doing fine...her muscle tone is tremendously good....her reflexes are also good...except that she has yet to lift her head when the doc pulled her hands...but that is fine the doctor said...all in due time...heartbeat also very good...all in all...a healthy baby!!!However I do get the occasional concerns about what I would do when she gets sick or gets down with the flu or something like that....Therefore I praise mommies that are strong and collected and knows exactly what to do in times when their babies need them the most...I feel that you prove to your babies how dependable you are as a mommy when faced with dire situations and when their mommies know exactly what to do here, is where they would know that they are always in good hands. So salute to Nina...for being so strong and so together for baby Gib...remember that mommies stick together.I am here if you need to vent!!!

So, Daanya got her 2 month jab yesterday...wow!!! It took a while for the doctor to prepare the shot...I think because it is 6 in 1....with all the technical names that I just cannot pronounce...hahhahaha...but the doctor was so good and thorough with her...the moment the needle went in Daanya cried and the needle came out she stopped..."Good girl" mommy said...I was sooo proud of my little one...She took it like a pro!!!hehhehehe...or maybe her thigh protected her from severe pain!!!hahhahaha..her thighs are now double in size compared to last month...so cute! After the shot, she went back to her usual cheery self....coos and gagas all the way to opah's house (hazmy's mom's) where I left her for the rest of the day while I went to get some alone time...but that is a different story...

I was a proud mommy yesterday...especially now that I've embarked on motherhood independently at our own place, hopefully on the right footing...now I am less worried of spits and vomits. I just cannot wait when she is not too fragile to take out on outings. Right now, she does have her "meragam"s and have had 2 incidents where she was literally kena "tarik" which scared the living daylights out of me. You see I don't know how far is this true but it might have some truth to it....malays especially those of the older generation, they believe that babies are able to see to the extent what we adults cannot see...yes, by this I mean those spiritual beings that wanders around us....the elders claim that newborns have this sweet smell that they really like...and there is the good ones and bad ones...the good ones only wants to play with your baby...that is when you sometimes see your baby smile and laugh even when you are not playing with them...but the bad ones....hence the name lar...don't want to go into that...anyways, after two incidents of Daanya literally being "tarik"ed in front of my eyes...asked this spiritual master to scan if anything is disturbing her and he said there is but not teruk he said....but it was good enough to make me scared. Therefore, I am going to ask Hazmy to call this master and scan all houses of each parents and also the new one we are moving into...I've heard so many stories and I really do not want anything to harm my baby....so, we have taken proper precautions and so far after almost a week in our place, she is more peaceful and sleeps better...but I do take precautionary actions like not taking her out till late and bring her home either before dusk or after maghrib prayers. Still keeping my fingers crossed though....still want to give it some time before we really take her out....but for now, the current arrangement will have to do.

Oh, Daanya sleeps throught he night now...We put her down at 12 midnight and she wakes up at 7 or 8am for her milk...hhehehhe hopes she keeps this up even when I start going to work...I could use the sleep time....

So there it is...Daanya's 2 month update...I get so excited just thinking what will her next development be....hehehheh...in the mean time...I am also concentrating on losing the baby weights and getting back into my pre-pregnancy clothes...so far so good...manages to lose 20kgs already and another 10 will do me good...insyaAllah.

***Liberation***

"Henry James once wrote: 'Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact.'"

I pray to God to give me strength, help me be strong on this road I travel on, when I am lost and lonely please find me for my journey's just begun.............

I chose to give this posting the title "Liberation" due to a few reasons in which I want to express and to some extent vent in this posting. Therefore I pray for God to give me His guidance....

My confinement ended just early last week...Phewwww!!! 44 days was a total drag!!!Everything was so limited and controlled...Somehow I thank God that I decided to spend it at my parents' where the house is spacious enough to move around rather than the apartment we are staying in...I tell you I would have gone mad!!! Despite all that, I am so thankful and grateful for all the extra hands helping me with Daanya. Right from the early 2 week vormitting and did not put on any significant weight since birth to this point where she is taking in 5 oz of milk and outgrowing her newborn attires...Before anything, I want to thank baba and mama for putting in so much time, energy and also money for Daanya. My parents actually bought a whole new set of feeding bottles (Dr. Brown) for Daanya replacing the Avents I bought because Daanya was colicky and the Avents somehow made it worse. I know it said reduced colic...but with Dr. Brown somehow she got better....I guess reduced colic and anti-colic really does make a difference!!!Beats the hell out of me.. *shudder* Back to my rambling...Thank you Baba for supporting Daanya's few trips to the child clinic. Mama, I cannot thank you enough for all the help and advice on taking care of the baby, nagging me to exercise and also going all out to make sure that I get back my good health, the medicines and jamu also the uruts....most of all Thank you so much for your much needed support so that I keep my sanity and maintain my rationality the first few weeks when I was at my lowest of lows....I guess nobody would understand better than you knowing that you too have been through situations as similar as mine when you gave birth to me only I know my petty problems are nowhere compared to what you have been through then. However I am so grateful to have a mother like you...we may have our differences but still my life would be zilch without your TLC. Next of all I would like to express my gratitude to my siblings...Without their help, I probably wouldn't even bathe during the day!!!hahahaha...Thank you for entertaining Daanya...Uncle Joe for being her babysitter every morning while mummy gets her uruts...Uncle adik for just making her laugh and Aunty Anja for cleaning her poopies...hehehhehe!!!Most of all thank you to the family for allowing me to establish a pattern with her...I have to admit it was tough at first doing everything all at once...not knowing which to accomplish first, not knowing how to get things done, ever wondering if I would ever have and find time for myself ever again....Now, I am able to work and operate around her schedule...though sometimes it is hard to even get just a little bit of time...but I am content...I would rather spend it with her anytime. Though my 44 days are over...I can sense that there are still alot to work at...numero uno is getting back that prepregnancy figure!!! Due to postpartum blues and a mild depression...my breastmilk somehow dried up...therefore my wish to lose weight through breastfeeding is now entirely out of the question :( I was very lucky that my mama is also a health freak...therefore I was able to slowly pick up on mild post-natal exercises that is safe within the first few weeks after pregnancy. My mom put me on a strict 'pantang' diet... so much so that I started craving the things that I usually eat when I was pregnant...especially her asam pedas!!!!!!!However there are things I learnt during confinement....Firstly, I learnt that nothing can replace a mothers' love and a mothers' touch. I truly think that without my mama I would be at a total lost as to what is ok and what is not...be it in taking care of me as well as the baby. Secondly, there is so many don'ts in taking care of a little child. They cannot be too cold neither to warm. Hygene is a virtue!!! Babies are very hygenic beings...Whenever Daanya poops.. she will be so cranky if we don't clean her right after....but she does the funniest thing...when she's sleepy, she can excuse her poopied diaper....but somehow she only sleeps for a short time due to it....Thirdly, you have to constantly maintain your relationship with your husband. Communication is so so crucial at this point especially when you are constantly at awe at your new arrival...chances are you might neglect the relationship. I refuse to let that happen to me. Though I wish I could've altered the circumstances at the early part of my confinement. With all that has taken place, I have resolute to come up with a system so that everybody can be happy.I am still thinking of the pros and cons thoroughly. Only thing now is to talk to hazmy and see whether he would agree...Back to communicating...Tok Sha has reminded me before that, once the baby comes it is always important to have at least one day in the week as a date week for just you and your husband. She stressed that this is very important...and I do agree with her....So again I need to come up with a system that works and see whether in the long run it would do us good.Fourthly, I now value the meaning of family. I see that with just the existence of a little baby, a family could actually become stronger and work together. Amazing!!!! When Daanya was around, Mama and Baba was so close...they argued less...hehhehe funny lar their antics!!! Family is very important and I really want that for Daanya..that is why at the end of the day, it is important for Hazmy and I to keep on talking...and be happy. So, I celebrate this liberation from confinement proud that I have learnt so much and know that I have the loving support of those dear to me. The confinement period was such a hurdle for me to cross...so many events took place, so many major decisions being made, so many turning points, alot of maturing up happened...alot on my part lar...now I have non other as my priority except hubby, daanya and both families..my own and in-laws.

I also celebrate the freedom of now having my own child, my own family and able to live independently. Begin a new chapter in our lives. Now our lives would revolve around Daanya and I cannot wait to see how well that will turn out...especially with the grandparental units...all three of them...I can see that now our lives will be more of bringing Daanya over to their houses for visits and squeezing trip
s to the hair salon, or facials or shopping and lepak sessions in the schedule. How is that going to work??? Oh Lordy!!!! I guess we'll figure it out along the way...Funny!!! the word 'System' keeps ringing in my head!!! ahahahhahaha...I now somehow consider myself finally an adult and I celebrate that feeling of liberation...or is it really imprisonment???alarr...it is always good to be an adult kan?? that moment when you are 21....it was as though the world is your oyster!!!everything is ready for you to explore!! But it isn't the same as having given birth to your own child and finally ready to start living as a family that makes you feel really emancipated. *sigh* huh??? why the sigh??? where did that came from??? hhahahahah...

All in all, I cannot wait to finally begin this new life with hubby and Daanya. I have always imagined the day where one day when we h
ave our own child and how we would operate. I hope that my decision to take a maid was not a wrong one. Though having the extra help would actually do me, hubby and relationship some good. Having help from my MIL's maid was very very relieving...therefore I do hope that this new maid would aid in all the everyday workings of our household. Finally, I want to have that sort of life as you see in TV although it is impossible but I would like to achieve that...to got for that perfection!!! I hope to get the loving support of my husband in order to do that...for him to trust my judgements and decisions whatever I will make along the way. I would also like to possibly mend all ties with either my parents as well as my in laws...to start fresh...but only if they allow us to have the kind of living that we opt for our little family. Let us make our own mistakes and live our own lives...and I promise never to exclude any parties! All for this little angel!!! Here's one her just learning to suck the finger....boy!!!She learns and abosrbs things so fast!!!

***In My Daughter's Eyes***

Thanks Nana for introducing this song to me. I heard it and wept. Beautiful.

In conjuction of Daanya Ayeesha's one month....

Artist/Band: Martina McBride
Lyrics for Song: In My Daughters Eyes

In my daughter's eyes, I am a hero.
I am strong an' wise,
And I know no fear.
But the truth is plain to see:
She was sent to rescue me,
I see who I wanna be, in my daughter's eyes.

In my daughter's eyes, everyone is equal,
Darkness turns to light,
And the world is at peace.
This miracle God gave to me,
Gives me strength when I am weak.
I find reason to believe, in my daughter's eyes.

An' when she wraps her hand around my finger,
Oh, it puts a smile in my heart.
Everything becomes a little clearer.
I realise what life is all about.
It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough;
It's givin' more when you feel like givin' up.
I've seen the light: it's in my daughter's eyes.

In my daughter's eyes, I can see the future.
A reflection of who I am,
An' what will be.
An' though she'll grow an', some day, leave:
Maybe raise a family,
When I'm gone, I hope you'll see,
How happy she made me,
For I'll be there, in my daughter's eyes

***The Blues - Part 2***

"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours."
-- Ayn Rand, "Atlas Shrugged"

I have decided to separate these postings due to the fact that I need a place to vent and really let my feelings and emotions wander for I know I cannot do that in my reality because I am afraid that my negative aura might affect poor Daanya. I rationally know that I need to be the supreme for her and in my best of health and this include an optimal mental well-being.

The baby blues....I really am crossing my fingers and toes and hope that my state would not extend too far and cross the threshold into Post-partum depression. Insya Allah.

My story began about a few days after Daanya was born. I was going through a whole messy bag of emotions...I was very happy and contented. I had something to show for as proof of undying love for my husband and our marriage. I was terribly terrified of the days ahead in which in my deepest of hearts am not sure whether we are totally ready and up for it. Apart from that, we are now responsible for bringing up another human being and the huge responsibilities that comes with that gives me jitters. I was miserable and depressed because apart of me knew that life would never be the same and that my relationship with Hazmy would have to be taken to a new level and as self-righteous as this may sound I would miss the times when it was just the two of us together and the intimacy that we share just the two of us; the steal-away kisses, the unexpected hug at the end of an exhausting day and just even the simplest thing like watching tv together....

I was messy internally mixed with the rigidity of confinement and the limitations of my bodily kinetics, I was whiny, frustrated and furious at the whole situation. I was so used to being up and about even during pregnancy and confinement is definitely the pits. Anyway, not to digress...alot of my expectation waned as soon as we got home. The first few days were great...we were exhilarated and ecstatic with Daanya's presence. We could not stop staring and gazing at her eventhough all she did was sleep. Instantly we loved her to bits. Everything was how I imagined it. Daanya's mommy and daddy both so happy and cooperating together making us one happy family.

To my dismay, the first breakdown took place when Daanya was rejecting her milk - formula and EBM. She was vomiting and spitting out everything she consumed. Posseting they called this....I was a worried wreck. I did not know whether she had gotten enough food in her system, I was worried that it was more serious than it looks. Hazmy and my dad took her to a paed (who is a friend of Daanya's Tok Papa and Tok Sha - Hazmy's dad and stepmom) and he was terribly officious about his diagnosis that breastfeeding should be the only way to go. This way the child would not be gassy and colicky...yadda yadda yadda....obviously this got me upset...I felt like I was failing Daanya as a mother. I felt so inadequate for making her so unwell. Nobody could have understood what was going through me at that point in time. Felt like a total failure. Cried the night away....Hazmy probably thought that this was just me being too emotional as usual....exaggerating the issue like usual...but let me assure you...that it was no exaggeration. I felt like killing myself for having caused that to Daanya. I felt so hopeless and useless. Felt like my whole world was caving in and that I did not deserve such a wonderful gift like Daanya. I lost the emotional support from my husband that night. It definitely was not something made up. If only he understood a bit more and did not lash out at me with undeserving anger, and consoled me better, this whole thing would definitely not escalate into something more unwanted and negative. The next day, my parents (Daanya's atok and nenek) took her for a second opinion at a nearby paed (Klinik Altaf) and somehow the explanation given by Dr. Sharmila makes a whole lot more sense. She addressed the issue at hand....kind of how I handle things as well...she said that what Daanya was going through was normal as her digestive tract is immature and under developed. The doctor said never too worry...she is consuming enough, she was only throwing out what is excess. Other than that, she was very gassy....her tummy was really really hard. Told my mom to ask for Dentinox Colic Drops (Thanks Nina for the advice!!!Really works wonders!!!) and a few days later Daanya was a bit better. Now she only vomits when she's too full and overfed. I just started massaging her (Another sound advice by Nina...thanks again, you are a lifesaver!!!) to release wind and make her calmer...she is sucha good girl. The massage works. She falls asleep easier now and longer sleeping time...that I have to wake her for milk at times.

The story continues when yet again my emotions were shattered when lightning struck the main board circuit switch at my parents'. I saw the lightning right in front of my eyes while playing with Daanya. My siblings were out at that time leaving me alone at the house. Sometimes calamities can happen anytime regardless of what precautions you may take or even wether anybody was around to attend to it. The main circuit board caught fire as soon as the lightning struck it. I was terrified not for myself but for Daanya. At that point, the only best bet I could do was to go outside so that Daanya would not inhale smoke (by this time the whole house was filled with black smoke) and called frantically for my neighbour to help. Before that I already made a desperate phone call to dad and Hazmy. The neighbors came (Thanks Aunty Pat and Uncle Henry) and managed to take over the situation. Hazmy and Pak Shah (Hazmy's superior) came soon after that and managed to extinguish the fire. (Thank God that Dad reloaded on extinguishers after the last fire) I was traumatised!!! I'll say it again for I cannot stress it enough...I was TRAUMATISED by the whole incident... The only thing going through my mind was Daanya...My little angel was so calm and collected during the whole ordeal. She was not fussy at all. I would imagined her to be wailing her lungs out at my panic state. The fire brigade came after all was calm (I seriously question how they save lives at their speed) and consequently only sat down and waited for the TNB forensic to come. Geesh!!!! So now the house was without electricity... Unanimously all of us decided to bunk at dad's apartment (the one that Hazmy and I are currently staying in for the mean time) until the work on the electricity is completed. Having gone through such trauma, the last thing to do was deprive my family of very much needed support. The only right thing to do was to go through this with them. Some parties failed to understand this. How can I depart from them for opportunity of better comfort when my family was in distress? I do not know how minds of others would make sense of the circumstances but that is how I operate. Think before you take action. I am a realist. I put rationality and practicality before anything else. It is never a habit of mine to impose on others if by any means I can take control and handle the situation to the best of my capabilities.I am a thinker. My personality is that I don't get excited over things easily until it comes true, I do not trust easily, always in one of my mood swings and I go by "Fool me once, shame on me and fool me twice, shame on you." And this is the very reason why only those who are really dear to me and knows me inside out are able to understand me and how I operate. (With this said, I have to say that I miss me besties; Pat, Nurul (Wo) and Ida) . Back to my story....Some people who failed to see me as me. These parties took this mishap as a way to bring me down. Emotionally that is. It is only right for me to be with my family. People mistook this as me playing the hard-to-get card, deliberately choosing to be distant and cold. They claim that it is hard to win me over. But what they failed to see is that I cannot be bought and yes, IT IS hard to win me over....you can ask those that knows me best. I don't get attached easily and this is so true if once you have hurt me. Hazmy who knows me best of all knows this by hard. He experienced it before. I was in confinement!!!! Having been through labor and a traumatic incident. You don't beat someone when they are down. That is not a fair game to fight. The timing was off. How can you drain what is left of my sanity??? I am trying so hard to pull myself together to be strong and not to be pulled into the black hole and end up hurting those I love. Especially now with Daanya present. These parties just chose to put their narcissistic needs before my health, well being and sanity as well as Daanya's best interest. Have a bone to pick with me at least vent it later when I am whole and Hazmy and I are more well adjusted. Daanya will be available in due time. (Thank you Tok Papa and Tok Sha for understanding this fact, you seemed to have instilled more sense into the situation than some who find it difficult to comprehend. I love you guys!!). Another thing is that, I feel that if you have something to say or something you are not well satisfied of, come to me. Do not go behind me and let me hear it off someone else's mouth. One's own niece can never be compared to any other. Remember that!!! But somehow if you feel comfortable with someone else's by all means go ahead. How can I stop you from your own opinions and comfort.

You see, I have so many burdens that rest upon my shoulders. So many to please that it makes me want to puke really. I just do not understand how that while I am in confinement, there are parties that can make me feel so worthless and make me feel so depressed. Especially when I have so so many to consider...especially now where Daanya is concerned. Why is it that it is so difficult to see that? I am sure they have been where I am now. Did anybody put them through what they've put me through?

What is worse is that they've managed to trap Hazmy in the middle between them and me. I love my husband to death and never ever in my hearts of hearts will I ever do that to him....I will never make him choose...never will I put him between a rock and a hard place. I respect and love him too much to do such a thing. And to see him so sad tears me up to pieces. It affected our relationship and I think our marriage will never be the same again because of this whole nightmare. I promise that from this day forth I will never again let outsiders influence my marriage and my relationship with my husband and daughter. Because of this, I have to be unyielding and firm, putting my foot down where my little family is concerned. No more letting others making decisions for me, for us....This is my family and whether or not you like it, it is Hazmy's and mine. We steer our ship our way with Hazmy being the captain and Daanya and I on deck. If we steer the ship right, InsyaAllah it would not sink. Hazmy sayang, we have to steer and prevent our ship from being shipwrecked and sink because this marriage is ours. We are responsible for it for our happiness and for the benefit of our daughter. We make the decisions, we have control, we cannot let others break us apart. Your priority is now us - your wife and daughter before anything else. Aside from that, your responsibility is enormous. You too have many to please, I understand. But please remember the ucap taklik you vowed at our nikah...that your responsibility towards your wife and zuriat take precedence before anything else.

As you can see, I am a whole messy bag of emotions. Sometimes, I stare into deep space before I sleep and think about how low my level of emotions are. Sometimes a pang of regret runs over me thinking what have I gotten myself into? Why did I choose this path? Sometimes I feel that going through life just me and Hazmy was adequate. We were happy. Maybe it will take a while to get to happy...for now I think that we are more exhausted. But I am thankful for God's miracle. Thankful and grateful for Daanya Ayeesha. I really do not know if this is the blues or depression but whatever it is that I feel inside somehow feels permanent, I feel a constant hurt inside. This has come to a point where I sometimes cry myself to sleep. How has it come to this?? I know that this is going to scar me. How can this change me? How will this affect my judgment? Will I recover from this? I surely hope so for my family's sake.

Just a plea to end, Sayang, my love for you and Daanya is undivided. You and I share far more then to have this get the best of us. I do not want to lose you this early in the marriage. I need your support most of all I need you. I need for us to go through this together if possible as independently as we can....go through this new life and its ups and downs together. The reason for this is so that we are able to learn from our mistakes, so that our life will be more meaningful, so that we are able to call this life "our own". We should learn to make our own decisions - what is best for us and our family. Moreover, I want us to bring up Daanya the way that WE want her to be raised. I cannot oblige to others making decisions for us where Daanya is concerned. This is for the very reason that SHE IS OURS!! She is top priority sayang and only the best for her. I do not mind sacrificing my needs to meet hers. Don't you think that as a requirement we should both agree and be happy with any decisions made? Always consult each other. I will never stop making you happy. Syurga I tetap bawah telapak kaki you. I will never contest my love for you and my love for Daanya..you both deserve it equally. Even if it means that my needs come second. Please be sure that whatever we do, our marriage and our relationship is not affected. I seek you to ensure that this becomes a happy marriage and with that result in a happy family. Never obstruct the communication. We work hand in hand...never forget that. Let's always support each other like we did before this new arena.

Daanya, mommy might have her ups and downs...but please be assured that I thank GOD for you. I learn alot about myself since you came along. You make everything clearer. You are my reason to believe. It is because of you I am holding on strong. I don't want to be weak in your eyes. I want to be your hero...Only the best for you darling.

As for my story. I pray that this be it the blues or not will not escalate into something permanent. I have to be strong for the people I love. I want to make this work no matter what. For the time being, I may dwell in my sorrows. There will be highs and lows. I may put up a brave front but internally be at a disarray, let this be my problem should those that don't understand cannot lend emotional support. Let me give surety that I plan to not let this come in the way of my happiness and the happiness of my family. Never will that alter. InsyaAllah.

***The Blues - Part 1***

-Life's biggest tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late-
-Benjamin Franklin-

This is something I got off The Association of Post-Natal Illness's website. There are parties that are clearly unaware of the existence of Post-Natal Illnesses i.e; Post-Partum Blues and Post-Partum depression. Or some just choose to ignore repurcussions of giving birth...It is not like baking a cake in the oven, when it is ready you are more than happy to have your share. Giving birth is not just popping the baby out and everybody lives happily ever after. Well I thought that a little education can be virtuous.

Many mothers feel very emotional and upset when they have the blues and they cry for no particular reason. They may find that it is impossible to cheer up. Some mothers feel very anxious and tense. Minor problems may cause mothers with the blues to worry a great deal.

Some mothers have pains for which there is no medical cause or they may feel unwell but without any particular symptoms. Most mothers who have the blues feel very tired and lethargic most of the time. Frequently mothers who have the blues have difficulty sleeping.

Possible causes of the Blues.

The blues may have several causes, some biological and some emotional.

When a baby is born there are very sudden changes in the mother's hormone levels. Some, required during pregnancy, drop rapidly, while others like those which start the production of milk, rise. These rapid changes may act to trigger the blues.

Many mothers are unprepared for the extreme weariness, which often follows a birth. The weariness is usually due to a combination of factors. In many cases the mother will have been anticipating the birth with some apprehension. This, as well as the physical exertion of the birth itself, can make mothers feel exhausted. Rest and quiet are most important after a birth. Few mothers get either, as they are busy responding to the needs of the baby, Or, when they might be able to rest, they are disturbed by hospital or home routines or by visitors who may stay too long.

Sometimes the baby may have a slight health problem such as jaundice or feeding difficulties in the early days. These problems are very common with new babies, but they cause mothers great anxiety. The problems do settle down as the baby gets older and mothers should try to talk to medical staff and allow themselves to be reassured that the baby will thrive.

What can be done to help a Blues Sufferer

Mothers who have the blues should be allowed to cry if they want to and allowed to express their fluctuating emotions. If they feel miserable they should not be told to pull themselves together. It can be a great help to the mother if someone listens to her and reassures her that her worries and misery will not last and that she will soon feel better.

A mother who has the blues must have as much rest as possible. It may also help the mother if she is told that the blues are very common and that they will usually pass quickly.

Affected mothers are often over-sensitive about what is said to them by relatives and medical staff. So tact and empathy from the staff can be very beneficial at this time.

***The world welcomes Daanya Ayeesha!!***

Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker
"And the little prince said to the man, 'Grownups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always explaining things to them.'" -- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

We bid welcome to Daanya Ayeesha Bt. Hazmy Hazeman. Our little angel was born 23rd March 2007 at exactly 5:52 pm on the day that Hazmy and I celebrate our 11th year of courtship anniversary. This makes the date even more meaningful where we have our first born daughter to commemorate the occasion after a year of marriage.

She is such an angel...I just cannot find the right and exact words to describe her. Never would I imagine such a beautiful being presented to me in the delivery unit at the hospital after 9 months of evolution in my belly. Her face, her nose, her eyes, her lips, her skin and the works so perfect!!!!The whole experience of giving birth was so unknowing...such tribulation...so much pain, anguish and suffering. It started the night of the 22nd....I was admitted into the delivery unit after a bloody show....That afternoon I had spent some time with my best friend, Patricia at my parents'. It was a fine lovely afternoon where we had spent it catching up after not seeing each other for quite a while. That night after she left there were more to what they termed "bloody show". After checking in into the delivery unit, still with no contraction they decided to put me through induced labor. Meaning that should the baby come it will come on our anniversary. The whole procedure started at 4am 23rd March 2007. The first bottle began its duty.

The pain was bearable at first. I was still able to smile for the camera...Yes, Hazmy just had to take a memento of the occassion. As the hours ticked by the pain was fast becoming such an agony to me.....so excruciating!!!I really wanted it to stop...I wanted to halt the whole process. However I picked up my strength and courage and endured the pain for the sake of bringing our daughter into the world...I thought to myself that I have to do this no matter what for my loving and supporting husband. Hazmy, throughout the whole ordeal was such a pillar for me....if he had falter, who knows what would have happened to me and our baby. I loved him an extra bunch for his hand (in which i wounded) and his caring for me while in pain...as I understood ended up holding the gas mask for me and shoving it to my face whenever I was desperate for it. Thanks sayang!!!

Almost 14 hours of suffering, our little angel came and made her presence. At that instant, all pain and torture diminished. She was such a sight! I was so proud of her for persevering through it all. My daughter! My very own. Our child.....a mark of our love for each other after so long....and a definite pinnacle to our one year mark of marriage. I loved her instantly. They put her in my hands and all I was able to do was cry realising the verity that something so miraculous and breathtaking could be the end result of such tremendous torment. At that point in time, all that went through my head was GOD is GREAT!!!GOD is MIGHTY!!!I feel so blessed for the wonderful miracle he had bestowed upon us, giving us such a wonderful gift and letting us start our ownlittle family.

With that said, I really cannot wait to start life just the three of us and feel what other newbie parents feel. I cannot wait to start the adjustment process and watching her grow right before our eyes and before you know it she will be off to pre-school and her playgroup then later college...hehhehehe.I have so many aspiration for my little daanya. So many hopes and dreams as how to raise her and the kind of mother I want to be for her. The kind of mother I have always dreamed of being for my children. A person in which they could look up to and come running to whenever they need a shoulder to cry on, a definite pillar of strength....a best friend. This is the very same bond I want established with their daddy too....

To end, allow me to be a bit sentimental...I look at her and I love the fact that she is ours....A symbol of our love for each other....Alot will change, routines will change, priorities will be altered...and I hope to dear GOD that with Daanya in our lives, our relationship will be stronger than ever....that our feelings will not vary....that we will support each other through thick and thin and that nothing will ever stand in our way and in the way of our family. Sayang and baby D....I love you both equally as much...my love for you both is so great and so deep. I am so blessed to have you both in my life and now be able to function together as one happy unit. My love for you both knows no boundaries and limitations. Both of you will always be there together at No. 1 in my priorities list. Permanently sealed.

Ooops gotta go be a mommy now!!!!Ok Daanya mommy's coming!!!
